FANUC America has opened a training academy in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Engineering.com reports a building of 132,000 square feet, an investment of more than 18 million dollars, and room to teach technicians, engineers, teachers, and students on industrial robots and CNC machines. With its other centres, FANUC says the network can train about 17,500 people a year and holds more than 160 robots.
The company also runs a school programme across more than 1,700 schools in North America, reaching about 60,000 students a year. The news is a reminder that factory robotics still needs people who can set up, service, and teach the machines.
A diploma in mechanical, electrical, or robotics trades is aimed at this layer of work: wiring, safety stops, program tweaks, and maintenance. Watching a humanoid video is not the same practice.
