Researchers have posted the MIT Quantum Index Report 2026, a second edition that tries to measure quantum computing and quantum networking with public data. The report, listed on arXiv on 23 October 2026, looks at research, companies, education, government, and public attention. It is written for people who need a comparison, not a product brochure.
For students, a scorecard is more useful than a single demo video. It separates how many groups are publishing, how much money is moving, and which technical measures are still early.
When you revise for a viva, cite the measurement and the source. Quantum advantage on one benchmark is not the same claim as a useful machine for drug design or breaking encryption.
